SDIA New Terminal 1: Move Management
As the San Diego International Airport continued its expansion and terminal upgrades, CBSI has been an integral partner to plan and implement relocations for FMD, the Administration Building, and New Terminal 1. Each phase of the project starting in 2020 laid the foundation for the newly opened Terminal 1. Partnering with the Airport Design & Construction teams, CBSI managed the relocation of all tenants from existing T1 to the new T1 for opening day in September 2025.
The Airports New Terminal 1 relocation project involved detailed management and execution of 7 airline and 9 non-airline tenants into the new 1.2 million square foot terminal. The multi-phased move of the active terminal included move plans for access control, aviation security, TSA regulations, airside operations, and detail path of travel maps to minimize the impact to airport operations. Airlines relocating included Southwest, Frontier, Jet Blue, Spirit, Sun Country, Air Canada, and West Jet. Non-Airline tenants included TSA, DEA, Flagship, Global Security, and other support services. CBSI management services included:
- Scope development
- Move management
- Stakeholder coordination
- Subcontractor management
- FF&E relocation planning
- Decommissioning support
